Whales are wild animals, so sightings can never be promised with certainty. But Eyjafjörður is one of Iceland’s best places for whale watching, and the chances are very good. Every trip also offers beautiful scenery and a memorable time at sea.

Eyjafjörður is home to a rich variety of marine life. The most commonly seen species are humpback whales, along with minke whales, harbour porpoises, and white-beaked dolphins. Occasionally, other species such as orcas or even blue whales may be spotted.
You will also see seabirds throughout the journey, and the surrounding fjord offers beautiful scenery, with mountains rising on both sides, creating a truly memorable setting for the experience.

To fully enjoy your time at sea, we recommend dressing warmly in layers and wearing waterproof clothing, as Icelandic weather can change quickly. It is especially important to have warm, windproof and waterproof outer layers, as it always feels colder out on the sea. Hats and gloves are highly recommended for your comfort.
Sturdy, closed footwear is strongly recommended, ideally outdoor or hiking shoes, to ensure comfort and safety on board. Sunglasses can also be very helpful, especially on bright days out on the water.If you plan to bring a camera or phone, we suggest using a strap or secure attachment, as this will help protect your equipment while moving around the boat.

We kindly ask all guests to arrive at least 25 minutes before departure to allow time for a smooth check-in and a relaxed start to the tour.
Boarding is completed before departure, and the boat leaves right on time. To avoid missing the tour, we recommend arriving early, as last-minute arrivals may not be able to join.
In case of a late arrival resulting in a missed tour, we will do our best to assist with rescheduling. Please note that this depends on availability and cannot be guaranteed.

Yes, families and children are very welcome on board. If you are traveling with very young children or have special questions, feel free to contact us before your tour.

If no whales or dolphins are seen during your tour, we offer you a complimentary return ticket to join us again.
The voucher is valid for 2 years on our Classic Whale Watching tour and can be used by the original guest, subject to availability.

Safety always comes first. If your tour is cancelled due to weather or sea conditions, we will do our best to offer you an alternative departure time.
If you are unable to join another tour, you are entitled to a full refund. Please contact us directly at info@whalefairytale.is and we will assist you.
If your booking was made through a third-party provider, their cancellation terms may apply.

We kindly ask all guests to arrive at least 15-20 minutes before departure to ensure a smooth check-in and timely start.
If you miss your tour, we are unfortunately unable to offer a refund. However, we will do our best to assist you with rescheduling or joining the next available departure, subject to availability.
In case of unforeseen circumstances such as illness or emergencies, please contact us as soon as possible. You may also wish to check your travel insurance for possible coverage.

You can cancel your booking up to 24 hours before departure and receive a full refund.
For groups of 10 or more guests, we kindly ask that any cancellations are made at least 48 hours before departure.
If your booking was made through a third-party provider such as TripAdvisor, Viator, or GetYourGuide, please note that their cancellation policies may apply.

Eyjafjörður is sheltered by land on three sides, which often means calmer waters than the open sea. That usually makes for a smoother and more comfortable ride.
